Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated on the day Lord Ganesha is believed to bestow his presence on earth for all his devotees. Ganesha, is worshipped as the supreme God of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.
Ganesha also symbolises the omnipresent consciousness. Ganesha is described as Ajam Nirvikalpam Niraakaaram ekam. This means He is unborn (Ajam); He is attributeless (Nirvikalpam); and He is formless (Niraakaaram). Yet there is a form that we worship, the form of Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.
The Ganesha Visarjan festival marks a unique art of worshipping His manifest form, Ganesha in pursuit to attain the formless.
Let us celebrate this joyous occasion with puja, bhajans and culturals at the Dham (4 Pioneer Drive, Templestowe). This will be followed by the Visarjan at Ruffey Lake Park (The Boulevarde entrance via George St, Doncaster) and then Mahaprasad.
