At National Junior CHYK Camp, of course!
On Friday 1st July to Sunday 3rd July 2016, in the outskirts of South Western Sydney, almost 60 teenagers gathered together for Chinmaya Mission Australia’s annual camp for teenagers. This year’s camp – ‘Unleash The Hidden Treasure” – brought together youngsters from all over Australia to help them unleash their own hidden treasure, their dormant infinite potential. Swami Shrikarananda (resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission NSW, ACT and QLD) delved into the depths of Vedic knowledge, making it tangible, palatable and practical for the youth. The classes guided the teenagers how to achieve greater success in all their endeavours by developing 9 essential qualities of successful people, based on Sadhana Chatushtaya.
The teenagers thoroughly enjoyed the team bonding opportunities, the positive and inspiring atmosphere of the camp and the chance to make new friends from all around the country. They had an unforgettable experience over these 3 days and many, to their parents’ surprise, announced they couldn’t wait until next year’s camp.
Chinmaya Mission Sydney runs weekly classes for children and adults of all ages. We have a program during the school term on Sundays especially for children from pre-school all the way to Year 12. Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) is the youth wing of Chinmaya Mission, with the motto ‘harnessing youth potential through dynamic spirituality’. CHYK was founded by Swami Chinmayananda with the vision of helping youth realise their latent and infinite inner potential. Through discussion classes and regular camps, youth inspire and become inspired, develop essential skills for self-growth and and build confidence, while being mentored by positive role models.
Junior CHYK is for teenagers (Grades 7-12). It follows the same principles of CHYK, and in particular gives groundedness and direction in a period of life where great change is occuring.
