Several of our Melbourne CHYKs went to Coimbatore, India to the Chinmaya International Residential School where CHYKs had a fabulous camp with Swami Swaroopananda called "7 Days, 7 Powers". Here is a short write up from that camp.

In December 2006, a group of 70 CHYKs from all over the world assembled at the picturesque Chinmaya International Residential School in Coimbatore for the first ever global CHYK camp ‘7 Days, 7 Powers’.

Under the guidance of Swami Swaroopanandaji we came together for an intensive week that covered all the bases of Hinduism, from the deepest Vedanta to the most ancient rituals and of course all the riotous fun of our festivals. Each day, Swamiji took one of the major deities and covered them in full, teaching us stories, symbolism and prayers so that we could learn to invoke the power of the Gods in our lives.

The action-packed timetable didn’t stop there with Bramachari Rishiji packing our day with an amazing range of activities, games and organised mayhem. We played holi, we set off fireworks, we sang and danced until all our energy was gone at which time the kitchen would kick into action and recharge our batteries to full again.

About a dozen Australian CHYKs, including the Sydney crew who organised the event, made their way to the school. Whilst we were not the biggest contingent, we definitely made our presence felt.

Meeting our extended CHYK family from around the world and seeing the breadth and vibrancy of Gurudev’s total vision, we participated in a camp like no other and had an experience that will change our lives.
