The glorious portrayal of Lankakand by Swami Swaroompanandaji, engrossed hundreds of people across Melbourne. These talks were held at Kel Watson Theatre. Enthusiastic and dedicated Sevaks welcomed devotees in the most cheerful manner. The resonance of the hall was filled with beautiful pre-lecture bhajans which created wonderful atmosphere of Rama Rajya.
The Stage was set with an altar of Lord Ramji and poojya Guruji. A cute little seat was reserved for Sri Hanumanji. The backdrop of beautiful pictures of Ramayana serenely lit to give the perfect ambience for the occasion
Over five beautiful evenings, Swamiji described how Rama, the eternal bliss, attained victory over Ravana, the ego-centric personality.
The various events around the construction of the bridge was covered from how the monkey and bear army used big boulders right down to a squirrel’s contribution. Swamiji went on to illustrate the import of Angada’s attempt for a peace treaty, death of Ravana’s sons, Kumbakarna’s death, Vibheeshana Gita, Lakshmana’s injury, Hanuman’s journey for Sanjeevani, Ravana’s death, Sita’s return to Sri Ram and finally everyone getting back to Ayodhya on the Pushpak Vimaan.
Most of us know the Ramayan story but Swamiji’s way of connecting the story to our self and ways of demolishing the demonic thoughts within us and empowering them with divine thoughts was a great benefit. Swamiji’s words brought about this whole episode of Lankakand in a pictorial form for the audience listening.
This was further emphasized by the youth of Chinmaya Mission enacting each day’s topic after the talks. The Chyks were absolutely spectacular in their performance, the costumes and the dances were a feast to the eyes. The concept of mime used to deliver the message without speaking deserved applauds, especially the Hanuman episode of carrying the Sanjeevani Paravat was an absolute highlight. Anyone watching the video of this scene would see Hanuman flying around the hall
-----the concept was great and their hard work and creativity was obvious.
-----Kudos to the youth involved.
On the final day everyone witnessed Sri Ram being crowned the king of Ayodhya, with Lakshmana and Sita next to Sri Ram, Hanuman at Sri Ram’s feet, flowers being showered from the heavens……a PERFECT finale to Lankakand …indeed a great blessing ….the Divine’s triumph over the ego….the inevitable……….
