Shri Hanuman Chalisa - The secret of Success.

Sydney welcomed back Swami Swaroopananda Regional Head of Australasia for the above talks. Swami Swaroopananda is a disciple of His Holiness Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of Chinmaya Mission.

Swami Swaroopananda was here, after his very successful Hanuman Havan held in Mumbai on the 15th of February 2009 for world peace.

The talks were held at the Bahai Centre in Silverwater from 19 June to the 25th June 2009. This was Swamiji’s 101st Talk on the Hanuman Chalisa.

The talks started with the chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa led by the beautiful haunting voice of Pushpa Jagadish.

Swamiji explained that chalisa means forty verses. The Hanuman Chalisa was composed by Goswami Tulsidas, when he was very ill, and he recovered from this illness. Swamiji further said that when he was bed ridden and in pain, he chanted the Hanuman Chalisa all night and did not feel the night pass away.

The chanting of the Hanuman chalisa is so powerful that folks who do not know sanskrit read the English translations and reap the benefits. Hence if we knew the meaning and chanted it with proper reverence and purity, anything can be achieved. Swamiji also explained that the Hanuman Chalisa contained the secrets to success, to empower and enrich our lives. These verses contained the secrets to tap the potential of our minds, and be successful.

  • A pure mind free of ignorance is required
  • Surrender to the Guru by serving him and the mind will be cleansed of impurities
  • Serve others with humility and devotion without expecting anything in return, be it praise or reward
  • Serve the Lord unconditionally
  • We are alone capable of controlling our own power
  • If we worship Shri Hanuman all our jobs will be accomplished, and we will always be successful
  • You can be Larger than life or as small an ant when it is required
  • Our ego limits our success, we sabotage our progress
  • Be ever devoted to the Lord
  • Single pointed ness in what ever we do will lead us to success and less anxiety
  • Destroy the ignorance of our minds with the Gada of Sri Hanuman
  • Be silent and observe what happens around you
  • Have no selfish desires and dedicate all to the Lord, by serving others

Swamiji further indicated that if we chant the Hanuman Chalisa with reverence and faith at least once a day we would have peace and contentment in our hearts.

The above talks attracted over 1000 people each night, where everyone made the effort to be present to listen to Swamiji’s words of wisdom, and had us chanting the Chalisa all day and thinking about how we can improve by chanting the Chalisa.

Even the children were not forgotten - Br Gopal Ji Resident Archarya of Chinmaya Mission Sydney conducted session with the kids.

The last day ended with a wonderful aarti. Prasad of books and Vada’s and Boondi were offered to devotees.

The atmosphere in the Auditorium each night was fantastic. But the last night the atmosphere was electric, where everyone left on a high, inspired by Swamiji’s words vibrating in our minds and hearts.

The organising committee should be commended for their fantastic efforts.

Swamiji will be back in November at the same venue for talks on the 15th Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita (20th November to 26th November followed by a family camp which we should not miss).
